the BESTEST trip ever in SUNRISE ISLAND RESORT...!

i have so many things to blog about yet so little time..youth camp..kl trip..new hectic timetable..but i think i should just start with the most recent one first before the memory fades away...LANGKAWI!!! just came back from langkawi last night..it's my second time visiting langkawi..first time was 2 years back when i went there for kem cabaran alam..i did post about it last 2 years..IF u read about it, you'll know =) of course that was a much greater experience..

anyway, back to the recent one..the trip was organised by my dad's company..so several families joined the trip consisting of about 60 people..feels weird though going on a trip with so many "unknowns"..but anyway, i treated it as a family trip so it didn't matter that much..we reached to my dad's office at about 11pm on friday night (dec 26th) because the bus was supposed to reach at 12am..typical malaysians...never on time..LOL..not sure what time we departed..maybe 12.30..


this cured my boredom on the bus..as well as put me to sleep...wow..my all time company on the bus...hehe..(christmas present from my mum..my first mp3 player!!! pink colour..love it! mp3 players may be outdated already these days but so what?i'm contented enough with it.. i've stopped dreaming about having one years back and surprisingly own it now and i love it! )

slept almost all the way and finally arrived at kuala perlis jetty at 5 something in the morning..wait, wait, wait...went for breakfast at 6am..then back to the jetty for the 6.45am ferry..wait, wait, wait..no more tickets so 7.30...no tickets..wait, wait, wait...finally managed to board the 8am ferry..the jetty was so packed with people..

*fast forward*...reached langkawi at...nearly 10am i think..the bus came after waiting for some time..then the driver brought us to a place where they sold minyak gamat (sea cucumber oil)..




the boiling oil yet when we tried dipping our finger into it..it was just hot...not boiling..amazing..lol..we only tried after being persuaded by the bus driver and he even demonstrated it a few times..

we had lunch at don't know where..


hungry souls fed....lol


self-service food..not cheap though..

then the bus drove us to underwater world..we didn't wanna go cause there was too little time and the entrance fees was too expensive...rm28 when we only had 1 hour?no way!i rather save the money for chocolates...so we walked around..


these giant lollipops fascinated me..if only they were cheap...i would definitely get one!

then the bus driver drove us to a place called "beras terbakar"..couldnt enter in time though..too busy looking at souvenirs outside..lol

and finally came the check-in time...so we headed to the hotel..

we stayed...somewhere near a petrol station..

see it??each time the bus or van turned it, i would think that the bus or van wants to fill up the petrol...but the fact is, our hotel is just opposite the petrol station..so convenient? or so dangerous i should say...

the so called "restaurant"..the food was no doubt not bad though...

and so we entered the room and got a shock of our lives...it was horrible!! we were first welcomed by a lizard..a big fat one...lizards in hotel?? one of my worst fears ever...so gross...!

the curtain which could not close the window properly that my mum had to tie it with rubberband..

one of the 3 beds in the room..looks ok to you??yeah, pictures are really deceiving...the bed is so not ok..the pillow case and bedsheet were yellowish..the blankets were disgusting...i wonder how long have they not washed it..

have you ever seen this kinda air cond in a hotel room?it's ok if it's old fashion..but there were sparks coming out from the aircond when we tried to on it and it made some scary noises just like those you see in haunted movies..and what's worst? i felt no air cond in the room even after turning it on for hours...

wanna see the bathroom??one of the most important facilities in a hotel room...one which i'm really concern about..

the dirty sink full of yellow stains all around..how long have they not scrubbed it??i forgot to snap the picture of the shower...you can see it through the mirror..an old fashion one with very interesting water flowing pattern i don't know how to describe in words...water comes out maybe every 2 seconds and not continuously..

the toilet bowl with a spoiled flush system..until we asked someone to fix it..it's a good thing that they actually take action..at least...

and the bathroom floor..it was flooded with what my dad called "shit water"..not sure if it's those water but it was totally disgusting...and if you notice, i couldn't even snap the picture properly cause it was too gross....

the lightings were very bad..a dim light on both sides and a normal light at the dressing table...that's all...this is only an emergency light and i bet it doesn't work!!

the only thing i found in the room that looked like what a normal hotel has is...

yup..this...but the thing seemed to be coming off the wall already...well at elast they have this...

there's a bunny ears tv in the room too but nothing could be watched..i had trouble figuring where the on button was too..got tv = no tv...

good thing my dad booked another room cause 1 room wasn't enough..the other room was smaller but better...at least the air cond was much much cooler and the room was cozier...if only we had to rot in that one miserable room....i'll really suffer to...ok la, not death..the smaller room wasn't that good but just better than the one i stayed in..

every corner i looked, i had something bad to comment about..i'm still wondering why is it called a resort??was the definition of a resort like that decades ago??i couldn't count how many times my sis and i made the "bluek" faces showing how disgusted we were by the room...it's the worst room ever..i rather stay in tents..or stay on the bus...i've never complaint so much about a room as far as i remembered..even the dorms i stayed in camps were way better...and my dad quoted to his friend that "even if i let my dog in, she won't enter"..haha

night time was free and easy so we could go anywhere we want...so we headed to pekan kuah on our own..it's the place where chocolates are really REALLY cheap...the cheapest you can find i think..we had our dinner there too..shop shop shop..till i got so broke again...my money was drained really fast since kl trip..my notes just flowed like river..we only went back to our so called hotel when we were really tired...played card games in my bro and dad's room till we were really tired cause my sis, mum and i don't wanna do anything else in our room but sleep..

the planned itinery the next day was going to the cable car but we didn't wanna go so we had our own plans and went to langkawi parade (langkawi prade, that's what they call it)..it's not a very nice mall but surprisingly, it was a nice place to shop and we actually spent hours there..

this was what i had for lunch at the foodcourt prepared by a slow coach..nice though..rm6 with a nestle juice..or i should say rm6.40..

here's a conversation between me, my dad and the cashier who filled up our drinks..

dad : tak nak ais ya?

cashier : (after filling the whole cup with ice) kalau tak nak ais kena extra charge..

dad : extra charge berapa?

cashier : 40 sen...

me : kalau kurang ais saja??

cashier : tambah 20 sen

me : huh? so teruk one???

dad : ok la, tak nak ais...

what the???? this is the first time i heard of such thing..no ice 40sen..less ice 20sen..what the crap!? right in front of her i said so teruk one and she showed her offended face..so what? i don't care..it's so unreasonable..

chocolates for sale...i fell in love with chocolates more and more in langkawi...lol..

we went to pekan kuah again in the evening..still not bored of it..hehe..and had our dinner there...

very cheap....not mine...but i tasted some..hehe..the small bottles i mean..just a few sips..

not mine other but i tasted some too..yuck...didn't like it..never do...

will capture a picture of the chocolates we bought later and upload in another post...

next day, we got ready by 12pm to check out and waited for the bus..the bus came late until we had to rush our lunch at the jetty area...the great thing about staying in sunrise island resort was, the lady boss led us through the custom so our bags were not touched by them at all!! so if you wanna smuggle something back, stay in sunrise...otherwise, DON'T!! hehe..

we boarded the 2.30pm ferry...

the ferry we boarded...smaller than the one we took before that..

but more spacious and indeed faster...

it did rain but stopped for us to get down the ferry and just in time for us to get on the bus...Praise The Lord for the great weather!

we headed back to ipoh after the dinner stop at...gurun rest area??

reached ipoh at about 9.30pm...it's really a long long journey....but sitting on the bus is something i kinda enjoy every trip i go by bus...unless the bus is in a very bad condition..

the trip was overall fun despite the horrible hotel room and i'm proud i managed to bear with it for two nights!!

something really sad happened...on arriving at the jetty on saturday morning..one of my dad's colleagues' wife was suddenly attacked by fits and high sugar level i think..there was a crowd around her but i didn't join the crowd...never have i thought that that incident would take her life away...death can be very sudden...i felt so sad for her husband and family...it was supposed to be a joyous trip..yet it didn't even end but started with sorrow..

then i started thinking again...what if i knew that lady??what if she was someone close to me?i really can't bear to imagine..i really need to learn to cherish the people around me and stop taking them for granted...no one knows what will happen next...only God knows and He has His plans we don't know...plans to prosper us and not to harm us...

guess that's all about my trip to langkawi...

p/s. this is not really the bestest trip ever...the title was meant to be a sarcasm because the hotel was so terrible.. there's no where better than home...more posts coming up...hopefully soon..hehe..sorry, this is another long post....if only u actually read everything or at least scrolled all the way down here...thanks for your time..lol..till then!
