mouth watering, yummy, tasty, delicious, tempting and undescribable YEE SANG...

refering to my previous post about "yan yat" the seventh day of chinese new year...i said i'll have no yee sang to eat because we don't make nor buy..but things turned out differently instead..after delaying day after day, we finally visited one of our neighbours..2nd house so far in my neighbourhood..laziness i guess??lol..

we went there about an hour after dinner..had a drink and some snacks and my neighbour asked if we wanna try the yee sang she made..so, of course!! then she started bringing all the ingredients, a big plate, small plates and chopsticks out from the kitchen..


1st and 2nd ingredient..erm..shredded carrot and...and..i'm not sure!haha..

count the number of pairs of chopsticks..there are 8 pairs in the picture and if you add the photographer's one which cannot be seen in the picture, it's actually nine..and my mum said "9" a good number which represents a good start of the new year..means "cheong cheong gao gao" in cantonese? anyway, it was a pure COINCIDENCE that there were nine people..

oh yes, and they said we should say as many good words and wishes as possible as we "lou sang"...the louder the better?

hmmmm...chopstick licking good!

i've learnt something new tonight...it was then that i realised how much effort to make and prepare all the ingredients for yee sang...after a SHORT interview with the "chef", she said, "yee sang can only be made during chinese new year as the ingredients are REALLY REALLY hard to find and hunt for"..and now i noe..YEE SANG CONSIST OF 20 INGREDIENTS!!! wow!! u may have known about it already but seriously, now only i know...lol..the yee sang was truly satisfying...looking forward to have it again next year..

p/s. yee sang : credits to my neighbour, aunty chin and no joke, she's really good at it..people say the yee sang she makes beat practically all the restaurants..lol..
